Our youth

Children in a kayak on the Main

Children and young people hold a special place with us. May sound clichéd … words can sound very nice and yet stay so empty. Putting it into practice – someone has to show you that first.

Anyone who takes on the FRVS 1898 experiment as a child or young person discovers with us how to actively shape the best time of the day. We don't even talk about „youth work“ – even if it can sometimes be a nice challenge to be a match, quite literally, for all the young characters. We see it more as a supervised togetherness. We seek our shared fun, and that makes us strong and motivated together.

You get the chance to develop freely according to your wishes. We immediately allow freedoms that of course also come with a little responsibility: towards yourself and towards others. But don't worry – we support you in developing your skills and your commitment so that you can have the greatest possible fun.

Mastering challenges together, promoting exercise and health, adventure and nature experiences, shaping invigorating, exciting as well as chilled youth camps together – that's our idea. Fancy it?

O-Töne aus der Jugend
We, the youth at FRVS, are clearly the more active ;-) and of course younger part of the rowers and canoeists. We train often, but it's never boring with us. I think it's especially important to mention in this club how strong the bond is within the youth too. On touring trips in particular this bond is strengthened even further: you quickly notice that we depend on one another and are all in the same boat. Anyone who wants to experience this incredible atmosphere should just come along to training sometime – it's very quick to do …
Timo, Ruderer
We go on quite a few outings. So that we don't always do one and the same sport, we get out of our usual surroundings. We've been to climbing parks, taken part in the YOU-FM roadshow, like to do a whole night of a film marathon and have even made it to the cinema. Above all, we get to know each other beyond the everyday club routine here too. And it pays off – for our team boats, which know who they can rely on, and also for the lone fighters, who very much belong. It makes us into a community, a club youth.
Inga, Ruderin
For some years now, between the autumn and Easter holidays, we've offered rowers and canoeists shared indoor training in the sports hall of the Textorschule in Sachsenhausen. Even when it gets tough – this training stands out above all for its variety. Since the young people get involved and like to take over a session now and then, completely new methods come up: basketball, dance techniques, handball, parkour, volleyball, jumpstyle, running and sprint drills, rope skipping, gymnastics. Above all, though, fun comes first. So we round off every session with a game.
Hendrik, Ruderer
