Rowing touring trip from Wertheim to Aschaffenburg

Thursday, day 1: We set off at the Wertheim Rowing Society upstream towards Homburg. We started at the little palace in the Hofgarten. On the route we had two locks (both Eichel), since after the lunch break in Homburg it was back to Wertheim again. We rowed the Main loop, always between Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, past Bettingen to Homburg. On the way we had an encounter with a mean green fairway buoy. It simply appeared in front of our boat and rammed us maliciously!!! :-)

Saturday, day 2: Started from Wertheim again, but today downstream towards Miltenberg. Today it's 2 weirs (Faulbach and Freudenberg) and 33 km. The Main is quite a great body of water and so different from Frankfurt. We rowed entirely without ship traffic in harmonious calm to Dorfprozelten for our lunch break. There we landed on a great sandy beach and had our lunch. On, always on the Bavarian side, to Miltenberg. Happily arrived at the Miltenberg rowing club, a quick shower and off to the Greek (sadly without Faust beer).

Sunday, day 3: Today the day has it in it. We have „only“ 36 km, but 4 locks (Heubach, Klingenberg, Wallstadt and Obernau) ahead of us, and as is well known that can take a while. But we were lucky and were always allowed into the big-boat lock. Today it's from Miltenberg to Aschaffenburg, where on Thursday evening we drove our bus with trailer. All other routes we travelled by public transport. This rowing stretch too was marked by pure nature and we counted the kingfishers. Speaking of encounters, we were waiting for the big-boat lock and when it opened, two swans came swimming out completely serenely. That's how you do it these days. We took our lunch break at the marina of Erlenbach, quite grandly on the terrace of the yacht club.

Arrived in Aschaffenburg, everyone diligently set to de-rigging and tidying up, so that, happy but exhausted, we could set off on the journey home to Frankfurt. All in all a great and harmonious touring trip. Thanks to the organisation team, and happy to do it again any time.
