The 2025 season is drawing to a close, and we'd like to take that as an occasion to look back on the past rowing season. For our 17 active young people we put together a varied programme. Alongside the three regular training sessions, we also offered varied events.

Our highlights were:

The indoor sports event – a mini-Olympics at the end of the indoor season with varied tasks of skill, strength, endurance and knowledge

The youth season opener – a big outing and a subsequent barbecue to start the summer season

The youth touring trip – over the extended Corpus Christi weekend we spent four days on the Neckar. Rowing, swimming, overnight stays in boathouses and lots of fun!

The training camp – five days in the summer holidays in Gießen. Learning to row in the racing single, improving rowing technique and a varied supporting programme.

The season closer – traditionally we end the season with a bigger outing (this time in the eight), a shared dinner and a final night trip through the lit-up city centre.

In addition, this year five young people in our regatta group took on regular training and competition at the regional regattas. This year too, we were able to win successes at every regatta we took part in:

Whitsun regatta Gießen – Lius wins two races in the boys' single

Regatta Bürgel – Laura wins a race in the lightweight junior women's single

Regatta Limburg – Laura wins three races in the lightweight junior women's single; Lius and Titus each win a race in the boys' single and together in the double

Regatta Großauheim – Laura wins two races in the double in a racing partnership with Hellas Gießen

Hessian championship Eschwege – here Laura misses the medal places in the lightweight junior women's single by less than a second

In addition, our athletes Bruno, Laura, Lius, Lucia and Titus achieved numerous other good placings in spirited races.

Away from the regatta courses too, our young people had the chance to prove their commitment and skill: in 2025, two touring badges of the German Rowing Association, one indoor rowing sports badge and eight German rowing sports badges were awarded to FRVS youth.

Come on by. The first time is always with someone alongside you.

Sign up for a taster session – we look forward to seeing you at Mainwasenweg.
