This year the 14th MMC, the Main Metropolitan Cup, here in Frankfurt am Main, was held for the 1st time as an open Hessian Championship for the classes outrigger (vaʻa), surfski and SUP.

Our participation in past years at our „home regatta“ was mostly not unsuccessful. So, especially now for the opening event of the 1st Open Hessian Championship for outrigger, we had the wish to contest the race over 15 km with several turns here too, with one of the leading placings.

It was therefore especially pleasing that both of the teams we entered for the MMC made it onto the podium. Our mixed OC-2 with Jutta and Falko finished 3rd against strong competitors. 1st was the strong mixed OC-2 from Maschsee/Hannover.

Hessian champions in the OC-6 2022

Our mixed OC-6 with Maren, Ulrike, Simon, Lars, Andre and Gaby finished 1st. As the 2nd boat overall at the finish, this team was even faster than some open teams. With 1:20:55 they achieved a good time.

The MMC rules state that the mixed OC-6 must be crewed by at least 2 women. There was only one competing crew that, like ours, raced in the configuration with 3 women.
