Flickering bees, glowing mushrooms..

the winning boat – the bees

Thanks to the exceptionally beautiful autumn evening, all the paddlers had a wonderful backdrop for taking their glowing, decorated boats out on the Main.

Thanks to the exceptionally beautiful autumn evening, all the paddlers had a wonderful backdrop for taking their glowing, decorated boats out on the Main.

With the sunset in view, the parade started at the Rudererdorf in Oberrad. Our beautifully decorated dragon boat was there too. With 20 people on board, we went right through the city, under all 10 bridges, to the women's rowing club Freiweg!

When we arrived there hungry for soup, the nice helpers of the club were already waiting for us with steaming pots and a huge cake buffet. Full and content, the most ornate vessels were then honoured, and to keep the romance going, the full moon joined in.

The clear winner was the bee boat, steered by two beekeepers, followed by the crocodile with the glowing eyes and, in third place, the glowing mushrooms.

Oh, and then there was the matter of our supposed washing-line Canadian canoe. We can't really explain it ourselves. But it was on the voting list, from which our ghostly dragon boat, which was also at the start, had miraculously disappeared. In return, it was honoured for having the most members of one club on board, as well as the youngest member – Viktor, great that you were there.

The dragon boat then also made a lovely night trip back to the FRVS in the Rudererdorf. Many thanks, Anette and Christian, for making this great experience possible for us.

And of course a very warm thank you to the organisers of the Funzelfahrt. We're already very much looking forward to the anniversary trip next year, when the „funzeln“ on the Main marks its 40th occasion.

Come on by. The first time is always with someone alongside you.
